My original plan was to make a 1790s transitional dress that looks like a cross between a chemise dress and a Regency dress. Some others were making panier side hoop dresses with caraco jackets. I had enough fabric to make two dresses, so went with this earlier 1770/1780 dress first.

I changed the back shoulder seam from on top of the shoulder to angling to the back. I made
the back a V neck. I also moved the armholes up because even the models on the
pattern cover have a weirdness from the armhole being too big. I set the two sleeves in slightly
differently and am not sure I like the shape of the sleeves so may take them out and try again or alter.
I lined the jacket with a light tissue linen, cotton, rayon blend from Joann Fabrics.

Side hoop paniers were made earlier out of cotton and boned with synethic boning. During storage they were squished. Then starched and iron and squished, again, before this wearing.
